Fumonisin: In areas of Texas where grain mold can be a problem, plant hybrids with resistance to it. There is a correlation of grain mold with contamination with mycotoxins produced by Fusarium species, such as fumonisin and zearalenone. However, these mycotoxins are not commonly encountered and these mycotoxins have been found in grain without visible mold.

Alatoxin: Variety choice is not critical for aflatoxin reduction because this is a rare problem in sorghum. Crop management practices are more important for minimizing aflatoxin contamination.
